Researching Media in Africa

22. februar, kl. 09:00-17:30
OsloMet
Pilestredet 46, Athene 1

The Research and Development Department and Department of Journalism and Media Studies at the Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences cordially invite you to join us for a full-day seminar of Researching African media. After the seminar, there will be a two-hour workshop to initiate the establishment of a HiOA Africa network.

The aim of the seminar is to present a number of scholars attached to OsloMet who conduct and publish research on the role of media and journalism in a changing Africa. Increasingly more scholars realize that to understand and explain the current changes in Africa we need to study the role of new media, its content as well as how people use the media in their engagement with the world. We invite all interested parties to join the discussion.

In the evening, we are very happy to launch the brand new Handbook in Africa Media Research (ed. Bruce Mutsvairo, Palgrave 2018), in collaboration with the Norwegian Council for Africa.
